LIGTHNING MVP’S

 

Each year the athletes of the Mississauga Lightning Floor Hockey team are asked to vote for who they think is the teams Most Valuable Player. It can be based on skill, leadership, sportsmanship or hard work. the athletes pick the criteria. This is a special honour, as these athletes are being honoured, not by coaches or parents or volunteers, but buy their team-mates and peers. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!

2003-2004 MVP


Ryan Azzopardi #13

 

Ryan didn’t miss a single practice, game or tournament this season as he led the team to its second MFHL Championship.  He scored 30 goals this season and ranks third in Lightning history with 79 career scores. His players rely on his toughness, speed and quick hard shot. Ryan “the Maltese Falcon” Azzopardi is the first defenseman to win this team voted award and has shown that a great defenseman can also put the puck in the net!  Congratulations Ryan.

2002-2003 MVP


Aaron Lindsay #98

 

Aaron is the Lightning's all-time leader in goals scored and points. For the third year in a row he led the team in goals scored, with a single season team record 44 goals! His great attitude and unselfish play makes him a favourite of his teammates and is just one of the many reasons his team has chosen him as their MVP. On June 7, Aaron was given another honour as the team appointed him as an Assistant Captain, recognizing his quite, yet impressive leadership.

2001-2002 MVP


Arthur Rea #40

 

Arthur has all the tools of a   great player: Skill, Sportsmanship, Leadership and Sacrifice. With 22 goals and 36 assists, Arthur proves he can score and get things done on the floor. He assists players off the floor as well, providing advice guidance and encouragement to his team mates. He also is willing to get the puck to the hot-hand, passing and making plays so that the team gets the puck in the net. If it comes of his stick, so be it, but his goal is the betterment of the team. His team mates recognize Arthur’s contributions and selected him their MVP.

2000-2001 MVP


Mark "Sparky" Ellis #9

 

Mark is one of the top goal scorers on the team. He also plays with heart and determination giving it his best each and every game. In 14 games this season Mark scored 16 goals (second highest on the team). He also contributed with 6 assists. These career highs, his hard work and determination are just some of the reasons his team mates chose him as their MVP.

1999-2000 MVP

 

Craig Brown #1

 

Craig is the first ever recipient of the Team Voted MVP award. Chosen by his team mates for his spectacular goal tending, Craig led the team to 9 wins this season and had some excellent games against Toronto, Scarboro and Oakville. He plays with intensity and heart and gives it his all in each and every game.
